Get rid of pesky mosquitoes and take back your yard with a few considerations and recommendations from the Dr. Green Team.

Mosquito 101

Mosquitoes are a serious threat to our families and ourselves because they tend to carry diseases. Mosquito-borne diseases are spread through the bite of a mosquito that is infected. Diseases that are spread to people by mosquitoes include Zika Virus, West Nile Virus, and Malaria.

Mosquito season tends to kick off in late spring, as “April Showers” create mosquito “nurseries” (standing pools of water) and can last until the winter months when the weather gets cooler.

Mosquitos normally hang around gutters, fence lines, shrubs, and mulched areas of yards, as water tends to pool in these places. Water pooling, as previously mentioned, is a mosquito incubator.

Once mosquitos are fully developed, they will hang around their area as long as they have access to food (we are the food). So how do we take back our yards from these pesky lethal insects?

Mosquito Control 101

Dr. Green offers a guaranteed Mosquito Defense Plan, which is a treatment that eliminates mosquitos in your yard and is fully safe for people and pets. Dr. Green Mosquio’s Defense plan is a fog that is spread throughout your yard, targeting mosquito “hangout areas”. Each treatment lasts for at least 30 days; therefore, our treatment plan is scheduled on a monthly basis during mosquito season.

Dr. Green’s Mosquito Control Treatment: How fast are the results?

You can expect to see the results of our Mosquito Defense Plan within two days of our technicians servicing your yard. The treatment should be effective as soon as the fog settles, as that veil is your yard’s protective shield. Once your virtual mosquito shield is fully settled, mosquitoes will no longer hang out in your yard.

If, by chance, mosquitoes are still in your yard, we will come back and re-apply our defense treatment without question within 48 hours so that you can take back your yard.

Did you know?

Dallas ranks 4th, and Chicago ranks 5th as the Worst U.S. City for Mosquitoes.

Unlike most insects, mosquitoes in the pupal stage, called tumblers, are active and free-swimming. The duration of the life cycle varies greatly depending on the species.

Preventing mosquitoes from hatching is quite simple but time-consuming.  Amusement parks such as Disney World work together to ensure no standing water is left unattended. Keeping your gutters clean and eliminating any standing water, i.e., ponds, fountains, and gutters, also help tremendously. They also strategically put plants that repel mosquitoes throughout the park.

Quick Tips

  1. Do not allow standing water; this will breed Mosquitoes.
  2. Mosquitoes normally are most active at Dawn and Dusk.
  3. Check and clean your gutters frequently.
  4. Mosquitos normally hang around gutters, fence lines, shrubs, and mulch areas
