Mosquitoes are a serious threat to our families and pets because they tend to carry diseases. Mosquito-borne diseases are spread through the bite of an infected mosquito. Diseases that are spread to people by mosquitoes include Zika Virus, West Nile Virus, and Malaria.
Mosquito season tends to kick off in late spring, as “April Showers” create mosquito “nurseries” (standing pools of water). The mosquito season lasts until winter when the weather gets cooler.
Mosquitos usually hang around gutters, fence lines, shrubs, and mulched yard areas where water pools. As previously mentioned, water pooling is a mosquito incubator.
Once mosquitos are fully developed, they will hang around their area if they can access food (we are the food). So, how do we take back our yards from these pesky lethal insects?
